QuMail
Internal Smart India Hackathon Winner 2025. Application-layer email encryption using IBM quantum key material, post-quantum crypto, and AES over standard SMTP.
Tech Stack
QUANTUM SECURITY FEATURES
QuMail integrates directly with IBM quantum hardware to generate key material for multiple security modes. It supports four encryption levels ranging from a quantum one-time pad to classical AES encryption, with automatic key management and full metadata tracking. The system applies cryptography at the application layer while preserving compatibility with standard email workflows.
EMAIL INTEGRATION
QuMail works seamlessly with existing email infrastructure. It supports standard SMTP-based providers and lets users send, receive, and decrypt messages without changing their existing email workflow. A clean interface handles the full message lifecycle end to end.
SECURITY LEVELS
QuMail offers four progressive security modes: Level 1 uses a quantum one-time pad with true quantum randomness for information-theoretic security. Level 2 applies AES-256-GCM seeded by quantum-generated key material. Level 3 uses NIST-standardized post-quantum algorithms ML-KEM 768 and ML-DSA 87 for future-proof protection. Level 4 falls back to classical RSA-2048 with AES-256-GCM for compatibility.
TECHNICAL DETAILS
The system uses quantum-generated key material alongside classical and post-quantum cryptography, enabling application-layer encryption before email transmission while maintaining compatibility with standard email protocols.
